BMI Calculator
Calculate your Body Mass Index.
Explanation
Body Mass Index (BMI) is the standard indicator used by the WHO to assess body weight relative to height. It helps estimate health risks associated with being underweight or overweight. ### Result Interpretation (Adults) - **Under 18.5**: Underweight. - **18.5 to 25**: Normal weight. - **25 to 30**: Overweight. - **30 to 35**: Moderate obesity. - **35 to 40**: Severe obesity. - **Over 40**: Morbid obesity. ### Limitations of BMI BMI does not distinguish between fat and muscle. A very muscular athlete might have an "obese" BMI while being perfectly healthy. It also doesn't account for fat distribution or bone structure.
Examples
- 5ft 9in (175cm) and 154lbs (70kg): BMI = 22.9 (Normal).
- 5ft 3in (160cm) and 176lbs (80kg): BMI = 31.2 (Moderate Obesity).
