Explanation
Body Fat Percentage (BFP) is a better health indicator than just weight. This calculator uses the **US Navy Method**, based on body measurements. ### How to measure? Use a flexible tape measure. - **Neck**: Below the Adam's apple. - **Waist**: At the navel (men) or narrowest part (women). - **Hips** (Women only): At the widest part of the buttocks. ### Fat Levels (Men) - **Essential**: 2-5% - **Athletes**: 6-13% - **Fitness**: 14-17% - **Average**: 18-24% - **Obese**: 25%+ ### Fat Levels (Women) - **Essential**: 10-13% - **Athletes**: 14-20% - **Fitness**: 21-24% - **Average**: 25-31% - **Obese**: 32%+

- Male: Neck 15in, Waist 33in, Height 6ft. BFP ≈ 15%.

It is reliable within +/- 3%. Only a DEXA scan is truly precise.
