Drywall Calculator
Number of sheets needed.
Explanation
Calculate the number of drywall sheets (Gypsum board / Sheetrock) and studs for a wall or ceiling. ### Standard Dimensions - Standard Sheet: **4ft x 8ft** (32 sq ft) or 4x12. - Studs: Usually spaced 16 inches or 24 inches on center. ### Framing - **Plates/Tracks**: Top and bottom (horizontal). - **Studs**: Vertical framing members. ### Quick Calc 1. Total Area / 32 = Number of 4x8 sheets (round up). 2. Studs: (Wall Length / Spacing) + 1. 3. Screws: Approx 1 per sq ft. ### Mud and Tape - Plan for joint compound and tape for all seams.
Examples
- Wall 12ft long x 8ft high (96 sq ft).
- Sheets: 3 sheets of 4x8.
- Studs (16" oc): (144" / 16") + 1 = 10 studs.
