Explanation

Hardwood, laminate, or vinyl? Calculate the number of boxes needed. The classic mistake is forgetting wastage! ### Wastage (Cuts) You cannot lay flooring without cutting planks at the end of rows. - **Straight Lay**: Add **+5% to +7%**. - **Diagonal Lay**: Add **+15%** (much more waste). - **Complex Room**: Add **+10%**. ### Boxes Flooring is sold in boxes (e.g., 20 sq ft / box). The calculator always rounds up to the next full box. ### Underlayment Don't forget the underlayment (sound/thermal insulation)! You need the same area as the floor.

Examples

• Room 120 sq ft. With 5% waste = 126 sq ft. If box is 20 sq ft, you need 7 boxes (140 sq ft).
• Don't try to buy 'exact', you will always be one plank short!
