Paint Calculator
Calculate required paint amount.
Explanation
Don't run out of paint in the middle of a wall! This calculator estimates the amount of paint needed for your walls and ceilings, taking into account doors and windows. ### How to calculate the area? 1. **Wall Area**: (Length + Width) × 2 × Height. 2. **Deductions**: Subtract the area of doors (approx 20 sq ft / 2m²) and windows. 3. **Coats**: Multiply by the number of coats (usually 2). ### Coverage Paint coverage is crucial. It is indicated on the can (e.g., 350-400 sq ft/gallon or 10 m²/L). - Standard paint covers about 10-12 m²/L. - Primer often covers more but is absorbed more by fresh drywall. ### Pro Tip Always buy a little more than the theoretical calculation. Porous walls absorb a lot of the first coat.
Examples
- Room 4m x 3m (height 2.5m) = 35m² walls. Minus 1 door and 1 window = 31m². For 2 coats: 62m² to paint. With 10m²/L coverage, you need 6.2 Liters.
- Don't forget the ceiling! (4m x 3m = 12m²).
FAQ
Should I count baseboards?
Usually negligible for wall paint quantity, but if painting them a different color, measure their linear length.
How much for primer?
Count only 1 coat for primer.
