Solar Production
Estimate daily production.
Explanation
Solar is a great investment, but how many panels do you need? This calculator estimates your potential production. ### Peak Power (Watts) A standard panel today is between **375W and 425W**. This is max power under ideal test conditions. ### Real Production Production depends on "Sun Hours" in your region. - **US Avg**: 4 to 5 peak sun hours per day. - System Size (kW) x Sun Hours x 365 = Annual kWh (approx). ### Sizing To offset a standard home usage (10,000 kWh/year), you typically need a **6kW to 8kW system** (15-20 panels).
Examples
- Home in Florida (5.5 sun hours). Need 12,000 kWh/yr.
- System Size = 12,000 / (5.5 x 365) ≈ 6 kW system.
FAQ
Orientation?
South facing is best in Northern Hemisphere. East/West is okay but produces ~15-20% less.
Lifespan?
Panels last 25-30 years. The inverter usually needs replacing after 10-15 years.
